...working for Lene Lovich was one of the genuine highlights of being at Stiff - the best bit for me was they really liked my approach to the way I drew & illustrated and were keen on integrating that with unusual photography - so much so that they gave me 'carte blanche' to design all their stuff - I took that as a great compliment and it really spurred me on to do, in my opinion, some of my best stuff for Stiff - including the 'hand' logo/motif for the Flex album; which formed the basis of the various posters, t-shirts & ads campaign...
...she and her partner Les Chappell would often come into the art dept and just talk about new music & musicians they'd recently heard or, even better, bring in tapes to play then eventually remember they'd also meant to tell the title of their new single/album so that I could start working on the design ideas...
...the photo session was shot - by the inimitable Brian Griffin - in a disused stainless steel tank that had been previously used for making stout or porter beer..?!
