...working for the Theatre of Hate was a dream job - I got to do a long run of covers & posters for them right up to the early Spear of Destiny stuff because Kirk Brandon and their manager Terry Razor really liked the first cover I did for them - Original Sin - and after that used to keep coming back and saying "can we have another cover like that - here's the new song/album title..." - being given free rein like that is a great compliment and really boosts your morale and gets the creative juices flowing...
...that effect shows up with the Original Sin single & poster designs - where I first started to properly developed an unfettered, personal illustrative style that combined hand-drawn elements with collaged photo-mechanically done visual effects that I was experimenting with using a studio process camera* - these techniques all came together for the Westworld cover - it helped that I, like Kirk, had seen the recent film and "did believe in the Westworld..! "
